EUNICE & STAN BROWN

Stan (Stanislaus after his father) is the youngest and has turned out to be the most prosperous. When I first met him in 1943 he was still at College, and when I came back in December 1945 he was Best Man at our Wedding. After he finished National Service in the R.A.F., mostly in Egypt, he was articled to an Auctioneer/Estate Agent and passed out with impressive professional qualifications. He later set up his own business in Holywell where he became a prominent local citizen - Town Councillor, Rotarian, Lion's Club etc.

He married a local girl, Eunice, and they lived for some time with Dolly at the Firs, which he bought so that she could move to a smaller house. Stan is very like father Stan in appearance and manner, and is a businessman in all senses. He spread his wings and took premises in other places, in particular a furniture Emporium in Connahs Quay which one of his sons, Stephen, runs for him. I think his business and other activities have contributed to his recent poor health, for in spite of being fairly abstemious and playing football and tennis he had a slight stroke in 1987. He has sold up all his businesses except the furniture shop in Connahs Quay and has now sold The Firs and moved near to the shop. Stan had made all sorts of improvements to the Firs including a large picture window more than 20 ft wide giving a marvellous view of the Dee Estuary, so he must have got a good price for the house.

When he was a young boy, son Paul had a nasty accident while weight-lifting. He dropped the weights and they fell on his hand and crushed his fingers, so he lost some of them. He has some sort of professional qualification, is married and lives in Liverpool.

Daughter Ruth used to work in a beautician's in Chester, but she got married to a local lad and they now run a Guest House on Anglesey.
